My Grandfather's World War 2 photo album
My grandfather, Ernest Harwood (1910-1991), was
Field Marshal Montgomery's personal clerk during much of the second world war (amongst other things, he typed
out the orders for the battle of El Alamein). His personal photo album gives a valuable look inside the workings of the Desert Rats,
and contains images of many significant players. Some pictures are War Office, given to my grandfather by Montgomery, and others are his own snaps.
Where possible, I have
reproduced his photographs as they exist in his album, with his original, handwritten titles.
